29 products left, but today Mintlify
Hi friend 👋,
It is usually a good idea to test if you require explanations and onboarding for the new interface when building a new design for any product. If you answered yes, your design may not be as intuitive as you think. Good designs don't need to be explained, and people use them with the right expectations. However, this is not always the case, particularly if the product has no interface at all. That is how developer tools can be. Consider git, the most popular versioning tool, which is typically used with CLI even though it also has an interface. So, how would you onboard new engineers to all functionalities in git from the perspective of product people? Simple with excellent documentation. When using the product with a command line interface, the best companion is developer documentation.
And the documentation market is nearly saturated. At least, that's what I thought. There are tools available to help you automate the documentation process, but if you want to take it a step further, you must employ a particular documentation product. When it comes to documenting SDKs or APIs, I suppose readme.io is the way to go. However, today's product completely changed my mind.
Today, Mintlify is our product.
Mintlify is a documentation tool that streamlines the entire process. They have a VSCode plugin called Writer that allows you to generate documentation while writing code. The interface includes code samples, several menu layouts, tooltips, tabs, and other features. It is undeniably a good product. Meanwhile, they have a community where they gather all user feedback and feature suggestions.
This is a tool that consistently delivers on its promises. I adore seeing products like that. It could be your go-to tool for documentation if you're seeking for one.
We’ll talk again tomorrow.
