34 products left, but today polytomic
Hi friend π,
A friend of mine who works as a product manager for a major corporation recently expressed her dissatisfaction with the position. Checking the fundamentals is the first thing I would do in this case. Is it her job as a product manager or the weather that's making her miserable? Then I inquired as to the aspects of the job she finds most satisfying, she sees herself in the flow. During my time at university, I became familiar with the concept of flow. Simply put, you are in your flow if you are able to focus on the task at hand and feel like you are making a positive impact despite the difficulty of the task. She claimed that her favorite part of a typical day is playing around with data and gaining insights. Usually, Iβm afraid of βplayingβ wording here, since I saw tens of times that data can tell you anything if you torture enough. And then I inquired as to how much of her time is devoted to that activity on a daily basis. She said she just cancelled all of her meetings for the afternoon to do that. Okey, but what was she doing? Is she creating random graphs to see the correlations? Does she hope to see any sort of seasonality effects? Basically everything is possible, right? She planned to stay in the zone for four hours, but instead she had to spend about three hours collecting information from various databases, CRMs, product analytics tools, etc. I can't believe this.
You've likely heard of business intelligence (BI) teams at large companies. The BI team prepares data for review by the other teams based on their requests. The process is time-consuming and annoying for everyone involved. Technology, however, brought about a shift in that regard. Tools like Tableau and Lookr have made it possible to aggregate data from various sources and design interactive dashboards. But how can we interact with the data like my friend did in order to glimpse the invisible?
Today, polytomic is our product.
When you need to make sure all of your data is in sync across all of your sources, Polytomic is an excellent choice. It's simple to synchronize your database, Facebook audiences, Google Sheets, Intercom, chargebee, AWS, S3, Stripe, and more. Yes, my primary use case is linking many tools into a single Google Sheets, but your DevOps team can also benefit. And the best part is that they streamlined all API sync routines, so you don't get a delete all / add all approach, but rather the updated ones. You can apply filters and logic in between them while configuring the synchronization. So, it could be something like "sync the data from Intercom where the users got at least 5 emails so far and registered in last week".
You are already aware of my interest in tools that tackle a specific problem as efficiently as possible. I'm sure there are missing components in Polytomic, such as joins on the fly, but my friend mentioned above would definitely want it. Do you think you'd like to give it a shot?
Weβll talk again tomorrow.
