Hi friend π,
This is the first day of 2023. One more trip around the sun has been completed. It is a chance for us to break our lives into chunks and assess what is going on and how we feel about it. I stopped looking for meaning in life a long time ago. The only thing that matters is what we've discovered up to this point. For me, having a meaningful life now means having many diverse experiences rather than happiness or joy. It's that intrigue that gets me out of bed every morning. Our past traumas are fighting this journey's progress by making us too cautious and too devoted to our established habits. There are vulnerable spots in the human body that are triggered by every new experience, and the safe and secure option is usually the one we take. Therefore, life is a constant internal conflict for me between satisfying my insatiable curiosity and satisfying my need for a secure environment. And I keep myself sane with the promise that "if I can stay safe for a long, I'm sure that I'll have chance to satisfy my curiosity in the future," using my hopes, ambitions, and New Year's resolutions as a kind of drug. Aside from that, I believe self-development and openness are two other ways to feel safe while also enjoying various life experiences. That is why I invest in myself. It reminds me of investing in Bitcoin, but you never know when the bull market in your life will begin.
Did you set your new yearβs resolutions? Are you confident that these are attainable, but also cool enough goals that you can share with your circle and feel proud of yourself? I'm going to give it a shot right now. I recently read a nice article from Verge that included several hot ideas for the new year, such as getting up quickly at night to pee instead of waiting for the sun. Here is a list of myself:
250km total running distance, 50km in different places
Cooking class
40 novels - 50 movies - 20 plays
12 blog posts about my job
Learning a skill that I can do with my hands
50 unique meals that I have never tasted before
Having at least a couple of anxiety-free days
I rank them from easiest to most challenging. But I intend to make every effort to realize everyone of them.
Today, how we feel is our product.
New year is always an opportunity to improve ourselves, and one thing I've learned from my career is that in order to improve something, you must first measure it. One of my coworkers recommended this app, and while I'm not sure if it helped her on her quest, it was like getting a wonderful cuisine tip from a gourmet. Using "how we feel" throughout the year unexpectedly became a resolution of mine too. The app is entirely free and was developed by scientists and therapists. The main goal is to help you understand your own feelings and patterns, as well as solutions for navigating these emotions. The interface is simple to use, and there are numerous videos that guide you through your journey. You begin to record your emotions at the same time every day, and your pattern emerges after a while. The app also received the App Store's Cultural Impact award.
We live in a world that constantly makes us anxious. Getting some help wouldn't hurt. I really recommend this one to anyone who wants to feel a little better. And I wish you a wonderful year!
Weβll talk again tomorrow.

Yet another unknown product for me, thank you Aykut. π
This app reminded me a complimentary app that is also free. Kin, an app where you can build habits together, http://kinhabits.com.
