41 products left, but today Frontitude
Hi friend 👋,
You surely recall when conversational UIs were really popular. To use the software, you would essentially be having a conversation with it, much like a chat. When used during the onboarding process, it was also a fantastic opportunity to establish the app's tone and the user's expectations. Almost 8 years ago, we made a similar attempt with a ride-sharing app. Since students were our primary audience, we reasoned that a more conversational onboarding process would increase user conversions. We also used some cranky words. Even though it performed better than its predecessor, it was a pain for us to maintain a unified style of writing across all of our new features. It took a few months, but eventually we realized we shouldn't be sassy all over the app.
Let's be honest: we're not paying close enough attention to the copy we utilize in our products. Hard to keep under control, it requires close coordination between the product designer and the copywriter. We don't even have a clear description of copywriter tasks in our processes. Have you ever questioned when you may call a piece of design work finished? According to my experience, the copy is not even included in the "completed" work. For startups, even during the implementation process, you could hear something like "What should I write as a warning here?" query from the engineering team. And the PM or designer responds intuitively by making a decision right away. What if there was a tool that could manage all i18z and copy works?
Today, Frontitude is our product.
Frontitude solves the copy management problem in a very straightforward manner. They have plugins for all of the popular product design tools and automatically get all of the texts from there. You can assign keys here, send it to their dashboard for review, and once approved, the engineer can pull all the keys and utilize them as needed. The review procedure is also excellent, allowing you to see the texts in design and editing views. This approach can also bring numerous advantages during internationalization. One of my favorite features of the tool is the public product change log. This transparency can make entrepreneurs worried about the competition, but it also provides a lot of trust in the eyes of the customers. Based on the product's history and velocity, I am confident that many more features will be added in the future months.
Although they are not sending rockets to the moon, they have solved a common problem in an excellent and attractive manner. When the organization grows in size, you must develop ways to make the lives of specialists, copywriters or designers easier. Frontitude is an excellent example. I hope you will try!
We’ll talk again tomorrow.
