48 products left, but today dropdeck
Hi friend π,
My heart hurts when I have to listen to someone while looking at a terrible PowerPoint presentation. I feel it immediately, and it makes me stop caring about what's being said. Because if the person attempting to show me anything can't even use simple alignment capabilities or crop images appropriately, he's probably not the "trusted advisor" I was looking for at that particular meeting. However, I am aware that making slides can be a challenging task, particularly when time is of the essence. Consider the scenario in which you need to prepare a deck for a regular meeting and you believe you have some sort of template from which to work; in this case, you will likely create the deck a few hours before the meeting and fail to pay close enough attention to the details. Designing something may be outside of our comfort zones. And this could lead to shoddy preparation. Most of the time, we don't consider the implications of sloppy work, yet it may be more damaging to the organization than we realize.
Of course, Google Slides and Powerpoint allow us to make templates with our branding; however, it is difficult to generate something with them because templates are only for making an empty version of the deck. When you begin to enter data or have a concept in mind, you may require different layouts. Your templates may look fantastic with three bullet points, but if you need eight, you can use columns instead of listing them. Again, you can wind up with an unappealing piece of deck. With these considerations in mind, what if we had a tool that could automatically align and arrange the images and create the deck based on the words we typed? Todayβs product is awesome piece of work in this regard.
Today, dropdeck is our product.
dropdeck is a tool to generate slides by using your inputs. They capture your branding assets even throughout the signup process by using your domain (of course, you have to use work email). Then you can start making decks right away. You can include charts, photos, videos, Figma files, Logo lists, Loom recordings, and other elements in your slides by simply typing "/" to access the command list. They divide the screen into two columns, one for your inputs and the other for the results. You can also tryΒ other layouts using their magic wand. It's quite simple to use. And, based on their integrations with Miro, Loom, and Figma, I believe they have a good understanding of their target demographic.
dropdeck is still free to use but they will set a pricing soon. Their growth hacking strategies are also excellent. They recently created a video on how to convert your Google Docs into attractive slides. That makes perfect sense, particularly for internal meetings. The team is still in its early phases, but what they have thus far looks quite promising. I hope they can build a tremendous success story and keep us from seeing unattractive decks in the future.
Weβll talk again tomorrow.
