53 products left, but today Wiser
Hi friend π,
Some people like to learn something new by just reading an article about it and moving on to the next topic. Others, on the other hand, try to check as many sources as possible before moving on to the next topic. I believe I am in the midst of these. I'm never satisfied to read or hear just one point of view in order to be convinced or feel like I've learnt something. I need to see the opposing or other supporting arguments. That's why I constantly have the impression that I have strong research muscles. However, keeping track of all these research or seeing other people's collections has always been difficult due to the lack of a platform. Let me explain.
You heard the news, for the first time in history, nuclear fusion energy could possibly be beneficial. So, if you read just one piece about it, you could think that we're finally saving the world. Itβs a clean and powerful energy source like our sun. However, if you read further, you will see that it was only the first step, and that using fusion on a huge scale still requires a lot of research, and that the announcement is mostly intended to make investors feel hopeful about it. We may have to wait tens of years before seeing fusion energy installations. So, how did I end up there? Reading several articles from various sources, viewing YouTube videos, and reading a couple of academic papers. If I want to share my findings with my social circle, I could tweet something like "Fusion energy news is like a little skirt... blabla" and get some likes, or I could post my thinking with a collection of background sources to illustrate my train of thought and source of ideas. Today's product enables us to accomplish better one.
Today, Wiser is our product.
Wiser is a paradise for the curious. You may easily lose track of time in their mobile application while checking out curations and the articles, podcasts and videos in them. And all of the curations are live, so you could basically follow any curation and be notified if the author adds a new source. It could be a part of your daily routine. I believe there are improvements that could be made to create a better experience, such as improving the onboarding or allowing users to read offline, but it still provides a decent experience, and believe me, you will realize how much you missed user generated content of this caliber.
You've probably heard of the famous classification system that divides things into what we know that we don't know, what we know that we don't know, what we don't know that we know, and what we don't know that we don't know. We live our lives with the support of the first three, and the fourth is massive. Even transferring something from the fourth to one of the three will improve our lives. That's why Wiser is excellent. It always forces me to do that. Checking that out and creating your first curation would be a fun Saturday activity.
Weβll talk again tomorrow.
