56 products left, but today storylane
Hi friend 👋,
I had the opportunity to work on a B2B sales team in the early days of what we are doing now. Before joining the sales team, I never considered sales to be a field that requires science as a partner. What I knew was that people buy from people, so if you make your lead feel like you are a decent human being who understands the issue and offers a solution, and if you have a wonderful product, the sales will come quickly. To be honest, it can be like that at times. However, each sales process has its own set of metrics, such as conversion rate, acv, or sales cycle. And mastery of these measures necessitates the use of numerous approaches throughout the process. A great sales process is always preceded by a great discovery. The goal is to understand the potential problem that you could fix. As a product person, I participate in these types of conversations while checking out new items from the opposite side of the table almost every week. They always ask a lot of questions to get a sense of the situation I'm in. And, most of the time, I discover difficulties that I was previously unaware of as a result of insightful questions from the salesperson. We schedule the demo day, and the real sales begin during the demo.
If it's not well planned, or if I see another logo on the sample product that makes me feel unimportant, I quickly lose focus and start counting seconds. Or if they don't grasp our concerns and the proposal isn't even relevant, I'm out. After investing this much time in a conversation with someone who attempts to sell me software, I expect something specific for me that can solve my problems, or simply honesty and guts to tell me that this product is not the best for me. And I understand that creating a specific demo for each lead is difficult and time-consuming unless you have assistance.
Today, storylane is our product.
With Storylane, you can create personalized demos in minutes instead of hours. The logic is straightforward. They offer a Chrome extension that will capture the contents of your software in the form of HTML or a series of screenshots. Then they make a replica that you can modify yourself to include additional variables like the customer's name, logo, etc. You next proceed to fabricate a story for the benefit of your clientele. When you're done, Storylane gives you a link to send to the customer. After seeing the demo, they'll have all the information they need to discover the product on their own.
Of course, sales isn't the only team that can benefit from the platform; consider success teams as they assist their clients or lead generation teams as they send cold outreach emails with personalized product demos. It could certainly enable a wide range of diverse use cases. They are backed by YC and compete with very large firms like Demostack or Walnut with only a few people. This kind of ambition has always impressed me. If you find yourself in a position where you need to prepare a personalized demo, Storylane is a great tool to check out! It will save you significant amount of time.
We’ll talk again tomorrow.
