Hi friend π,
When my friends and I talk about vacation plans, I always say that I'd like to spend a week or two by the sea doing nothing but sipping beer and maybe playing backgammon with a pal. Instead, I spent my vacations walking alone around cities I'd never visited before. I walk at least 30 thousand steps per day in ancient sites throughout Europe by myself. Yes, I enjoy being alone to explore and learn about things, cultures, and people. When I visit any European city, the first thing I do is research its history, wars, and cultural figures. I make a walking plan for myself that includes all of the city's statues and museums. We've been in our routines for the entire year. Buildings, shapes, food, and roads are all the same. And seeing absolutely diverse and aesthetically pleasing things all the time is like nourishing my eyes and soul for a few of days.
Even though I walk a lot in these places, I can't help but feel that I'm missing out on something. What if there's a beautiful statue just next to this road? What if there's something else to learn? Is there a backstory to the tiny monument in the centre of the children's park? I'm looking for someone that knows everything there is to know about the city. I want wonderful company and a fantastic storyteller to accompany me on my journey. And I suppose I'd be the happiest person on earth if I could listen to Prague from Kafka, St. Petersburg from Dostoyevski, or Lisbon from Saramago. Todayβs product gave me that hope.
Today, Guidi is our product.
Guidi is an app with an AI-powered chatbot that identifies itself as a historical figure. So, when you're in a new city, the Guidi app gives you recommendations and suggests new places to explore. It functions similarly to a marketplace in that any creator can contribute new stories to the platform. I have some concerns about the experience, but if they invest sufficiently in it, this app has promising potential.
The product's concept has really struck a chord with me, and I'm quite excited about it. Give it a shot if you're a "let's walk everywhere" type of person like me.
Weβll talk again tomorrow.
I also highly recommend Piri Guide! (https://www.piriguide.com/)
The app detects your location and assists you throughout your journey with an integrated map and audio stories narrated by tour guides. So, you can discover the streets of a new city with a great experience.
