90 products left, but today Flip
Hi friend 👋,
It's now passé to discuss remote working or how our lives have altered since the pandemic began. There are many such subjects. It's all been said and done. If the person you encounter isn't a scientist who may potentially invent something new and is still passionate about these concerns, she probably just didn't read.
Scrum, agile, leadership, prioritizing, backlog management, startup funding, the pandemic, etc. Believe me, if you run into someone who has written recently about this subject, he just didn't read. And if you run into somebody with the same zeal while reading new stuff about these subjects right now, oh dear lord...
So, even if all the cliches are on their way out of my mouth, I'm not going to talk about the pandemic or remote work. To be honest, I was just using it as a vehicle for my own passive-aggressive thoughts.
We could probably have a good conversation on how ineffective text messages are for getting to know people on a deeper level. The lack of emojis could be a hindrance. We'll think you're an attention whore if you use them too frequently. Human communication includes not just words but also mimics, tones, and gestures. That is the primary reason why videos are preferable for group communication. It's a little stressful to record yourself, but if you do it on a regular basis, it will become second nature in a matter of days. What if, instead of relying on text messages, we used videos to coordinate our asynchronous interactions?
Today, Flip is our product.
Most of my friends still assume I'm a huge Microsoft supporter because I used to work for them. However, I learnt Flip during one of my one-on-one meetings with a coworker, and he is the most hipster person I know. Flip is similar to previous forums, but instead of long text messages, it uses video and audio recordings. You can discuss, share updates or ideas in video form with the community.
It was a startup roughly 8-9 years ago, and Microsoft acquired it in 2018. The main focus area, as seen on their landing page, is education. However, because of its numerous features, Flip can be beneficial to any community. To my mind, the app's internal user experience was faultless. Please try that out. I realize that praising a Microsoft product is so '80s, but this one is worth it.
We’ll talk again tomorrow.
PS: Today is a memorial day for one of the world's greatest leaders. I don't want to bring it up here but it’s necessary. I commemorate him with my heartfelt respect and appreciation.Â
