Hi friend 👋,
I sometimes think that all software for keeping track of tasks and managing projects has a major flaw. Someone is in charge of opening the tasks, and everyone on the team should update their responsibilities by moving the cards. The person who initiates the task should complain throughout the journey; for all of these complaints, we have scrum ceremonies (scrum-lovers, please don't kill me; I know that scrum ceremonies are where we discuss extremely important topics.)
Unfortunately, the product development workflow is the inspiration behind all other task tracking software. My eyes were opened to the meticulous tracking that goes on behind the scenes in marketing and sales. It's similar to Jira for kindergarten. People also forget to update tasks before "finishing" something. Finishing is just one more step. It is impossible to keep track of the progress. It's even impossible to discuss the rate of progress.
Aside from that, I recall the days when we checked in at every location we visited. We continue to do so in other forms, such as Instagram. I keep track of every movie I watch on IMDB and every book I read on Goodreads. Seeing how far we've come, how we've evolved in any area, is quite rewarding. The process of checking in is intrinsically driven.
What if we used that motivation to keep track of ongoing projects on which we collaborate with other team members? What if we were constantly confronted with the big picture?
Today, Tability is our product.
I must state that I have not yet used Tability. However, I appreciated their approach to seating everyone at the same table. I'm not sure if that's feasible for technology teams, but I believe it can change how other teams collaborate and will undoubtedly make the C-life level's easier.
Their landing page focused on the OKR framework, but setting goals is only part of the equation. Big tasks like "re-designing the landing page" or "migrating the internal knowledge base to another tool" can be accomplished with its help.
It's always difficult to use internal communication tools like Tability because you need to onboard everyone in the company and the time-to-value is too long. However, if you, like me, are tired of the current approach, I believe you should give it a shot.
We'll talk again tomorrow!
Hi Aykut! Thanks for reviewing Tability — you captured the essence of our platform pretty well! We talk a lot about OKRs indeed, but our job is to help teams stay accountable.
Give us your goals, we'll make sure that you don't forget about them.
Hope you'll get a chance to try it 👊
